Japan's original single malt, from the country's first and oldest malt whisky distillery, founded in 1923. Matured across American, Spanish and rare Mizunara Japanese oak, the nose offers peach, pineapple and grapefruit alongside clove, candied orange and vanilla. The palate is round and generous, with coconut, cranberry and butter, moving into a long finish of sweet ginger and cinnamon. It is a whisky best appreciated neat or with a splash of water to draw out the Mizunara spice, though it makes an exceptional highball. A landmark bottling that helped establish Japanese whisky on the world stage.
