Built from an equal split of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a touch of Meunier, and matured longer on lees than most non-vintage Champagne, Charles Heidsieck's Brut Reserve shows a deep golden hue with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose layers brioche and toasted notes with mango, apricot and mirabelle plum, dried fruit, pistachio and almond. The palate has real texture, a crisp edge over a creamy core of red plum and cherry, closing with praline and vanilla. A generous, complex Champagne with genuine depth for the price.
