A 100% Chardonnay cuvée drawn from fifteen Premier and Grand Cru sites on the Côte des Blancs, aged three to four years in Charles Heidsieck's chalk cellars with roughly a quarter reserve wine folded through the blend. Pale, crystalline gold in the glass with a fine, persistent bead, it opens on mature white peach, candied citrus and honeysuckle, moving to fresh hazelnut and a touch of tangerine peel. The palate is taut and pure on entry yet carries a silkiness unusual for a Blanc de Blancs, tightening to a mineral, airy finish. An assured aperitif, and a natural match for oysters and fine seafood.
